Aasandha Reports MVR 823 Million Expenditure for Q2 2024

Aasandha has announced an expenditure of MVR 823 million for the second quarter of 2024. 

This represents an 11.5 per cent increase from the MVR 738 million spent during the same period in 2023.

The number of beneficiaries of the Aasandha scheme also rose in the review quarter. A total of 265,059 individuals utilised the scheme’s services, up from 260,725 in the second quarter of the previous year.

During this period, there were 1,232 emergency evacuations, and 2,807 people received medical services abroad.

The Maldivian government has allocated MVR 1.99 billion to the Aasandha scheme for the current year. However, concerns persist regarding the scheme’s tendency to exceed its annual budget.
