Mayor Mohamed Shuau, representing the city council, and BCC’s Deputy Managing Director, Samih Adam, officially sealed the deal, signalling a significant step forward in the partnership.

The decision to embark on this venture is in line with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s overarching vision, which aims to elevate tailoring and related industries to an industrial scale across the nation. The primary objective is to create a conducive environment for local small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) and individuals to thrive.

This initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, is poised to generate substantial economic benefits not only for Addu City but also for the wider Maldives community.

Through the garment factory project, BCC anticipates a ripple effect whereby similar small-scale activities will undergo transformation into larger-scale ventures nationwide.
