Addressing the community, the President pledged to fulfil all government promises to R. Alifushi. He emphasized that the airport project, a top priority for residents, would be expedited to meet their expectations and boost the island’s economic potential.

“The airport development will be accompanied by further land reclamation to create an industrial zone, enhancing economic opportunities for the community,” the President stated.

The industrial zone aims to promote local income generation and reduce the need to relocate for employment. Additionally, the President announced plans for a modern hospital, a sports complex, waste management facilities, and expanded banking services for R. Alifushi.

Similarly, during a meeting with Vaadhoo Island’s Council and WDC members, President Dr. Muizzu reiterated the government’s dedication to aligning developmental projects with community desires. The Council outlined priorities such as shore protection, waste management centre relocation, harbour development, and urgent housing plot allocations.

In R. Meedhoo, President Dr. Muizzu affirmed the government’s intent to proceed with the construction of the island’s harbour in accordance with community preferences. The Council emphasized specific modifications, including harbour expansion, hospital construction, housing solutions, shore protection, and land reclamation. Modern infrastructure, indoor sports facilities, an Islamic center, and improved financial services were also highlighted.

Meanwhile, in R. Fainu, discussions revolved around facilitating easy loan facilities for home construction, coastal protection, and community amenities such as a designated picnic island.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu commenced a three-day visit to various islands within the North and South Maalhosmadulu Atoll yesterday. This tour aims to engage with residents, island councils, and Women’s Development Committees (WDC) across the region.
