President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has renamed the Aviation Security Command, a division under the Ministry of Defence, as the Aviation and Port Security Command.
The decision was formalised through Directive No. 20/2025, issued on Sunday. According to the directive, the change aims to place the security of all ports under the oversight of a single government agency and to strengthen systems governing the security of port facilities and international seaports, in line with established port security guidelines.
The directive also states that all government correspondence related to the Aviation and Port Security Command will continue to use the existing reference number 453, which was previously assigned to the Aviation Security Command.
