“Mosques in Male’, Vilimale’, and Hulhumale’ will have ‘five-star’ washrooms within the next two years,” stated Mayor Azim during a public briefing on mosque cleanliness. This announcement followed the hiring of Maldivians to maintain the mosques.

During the ceremony at the Islamic Centre, Azim acknowledged the challenges in maintaining a clean and hygienic mosque but stressed that such challenges should bolster determination rather than hinder progress.

Azim further expressed his belief that workers should begin their tasks right after Fajr prayers, aiming to bring joy and fulfilment to others.

He also highlighted the need for love, affection, and compassion among the workforce, urging that demeaning behaviour is unacceptable.

The ceremony held on Friday night was also attended by Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed. He affirmed the Ministry’s support for the Council in maintaining clean and hygienic mosques, revealing that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had instructed similar directives.
