A bilateral business forum will be held in Pakistan on October 22 as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s upcoming State Visit, according to the President’s Office.
Government Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef confirmed to MV+ today that the forum is scheduled to run for approximately two hours and will bring together around 300 participants.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu will depart for Pakistan tomorrow on a three-day State Visit from October 20 to 22 at the invitation of Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, marking the first high-level delegation exchange between the two countries in a decade.
During the visit, President Muizzu is scheduled to meet with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and hold official bilateral talks with Prime Minister Sharif.
Following their meeting, the two leaders will witness the exchange of several key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) spanning various sectors of mutual cooperation.
The visit coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Pakistan, formed on July 26, 1966.
According to official statements, the trip aligns with the President’s “Maldives First” foreign policy, which emphasises close ties with neighbouring nations to support national development.
