Current Parliamentary Assembly to Operate Under Previous Term’s Regulations

The 20th Parliamentary Assembly has decided to adhere to the regulations of the 19th Parliamentary Assembly until new regulations are drafted and approved.
A motion was presented by PNC’s Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falah regarding the parliament’s regulations.
The motion included two key provisions:
The 20th assembly will operate under the 19th assembly’s regulations until new ones are drafted and approved.
The General Purpose Committee is tasked with drafting the new regulations and must submit them for approval by June 26th.
The motion was passed unanimously by the 90 lawmakers in attendance.
Deputy Speaker Nazim, who presided over the sitting, emphasised the necessity of maintaining the parliament’s operations while new regulations are being drafted. He stated that the approval of this motion enables the parliament to continue its work efficiently.
Following the motion’s passage, the 20th parliamentary assembly is set to hold its second sitting next Monday.
The 20th assembly comprises 93 lawmakers, with 75 members belonging to the PNC, granting the ruling party a supermajority.
