Emergency Motion in Parliament Targets Alleged FENAKA Corruption
The ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) tabled an urgent motion aimed at investigating allegations of corruption within FENAKA Corporation, during today’s parliament session.
South-Feydhoo MP Ibrahim Didi, representing the PNC, led the motion, highlighting concerns over alleged financial misconduct by senior management during previous administrations.
The motion, which garnered 67 votes in favour, underscores mounting claims of mismanagement and financial malpractice within Fenaka Corporation. MP Ibrahim Didi stressed that these allegations have hindered the corporation’s ability to deliver efficient services to consumers.
The debate surrounding the motion highlighted accusations that Fenaka Corporation, under previous leadership, had accrued substantial debts and financial liabilities. MP Didi pointed out that these financial burdens have required significant state intervention, adversely impacting public funds.
In addition to calling for an immediate investigation into Fenaka Corporation’s alleged corruption, MP Didi urged the summoning of former managing director Ahmed Saeed for questioning, holding him and other former executives accountable for the alleged financial mismanagement.
Fellow PNC members echoed these sentiments, advocating for a thorough investigation to restore transparency and accountability within Fenaka Corporation. The motion signifies a concerted effort by parliamentarians to address long-standing concerns over corporate governance and financial integrity within state-owned enterprises.
The outcome of this motion paves the way for parliamentary scrutiny into Fenaka Corporation’s operations and the potential implementation of reforms aimed at enhancing accountability and efficiency in public service delivery.
