FENAKA Installing Two Generators to Solve Kulhudhuffushi Power Cut Issues
FENAKA corporation is installing two new generators in Kulhudhuffushi City in a bid to solve the island’s recurring power issues.
The state-owned utility company said two generators with a capacity of 600 kilowatts each has been taken to the northern island and are ready to be installed. According to community news site Kulhudhuffushi Online, transformers and other equipments were also taken along with the generators.
The island has been facing power cuts for over two months. FENAKA slashed the electric bills for all households last month following protests by islanders due to power cuts.
FENAKA Managing Director visited Kulhudhuffushi last month to oversee the situation. The company is working on bringing a 1 MegaWatt generator, he told Kulhudhuffushi Online at the time, adding that the completion of the new powerhouse is the permanent solution to the island’s power issues.
