Land Allocated for Media Village in Male’ Region

Land in the Male’ region has been designated for the establishment of a Media Village, fulfilling a commitment made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef disclosed the allocation of land in Hulhumale’ for media purposes during an interview marking PSM’s anniversary and Press Freedom Day.

Highlighting the government’s dedication to fostering a constructive relationship with the press, the Vice President reiterated President Muizzu’s engagement with journalists to address their apprehensions during the transitional phase.

Addressing prevalent concerns within the media landscape, VP Hussain acknowledged financial constraints faced by private media entities, compounded by the challenges of operating in high-rental office spaces.

In response, the government has proactively embarked on initiatives to alleviate these challenges, notably through the allocation of land for a Media Village. This strategic move aims to provide a conducive environment for media operations, reducing financial burdens associated with rental overheads.

President Muizzu had pledged to establish a Media Village during discussions with media representatives following his election, citing it as a measure to mitigate financial strains experienced by the media fraternity.
