Fourth High-Level Core Group Meeting on Indian Troop Withdrawal Convenes in Delhi

The latest gathering of the High-level Core Group between the Maldives and India convened in the Indian capital, New Delhi, yesterday.

Representatives from both nations, as indicated by the Maldivian Foreign Ministry, engaged in a thorough review of the existing bilateral cooperation during the meeting. Discussions encompassed an array of topics of mutual interest, notably including development and defense cooperation.

Furthermore, the Foreign Ministry highlighted that both parties reiterated their commitment to the agreed schedule for the replacement of military personnel at the final aviation platform by May 10th. They expressed contentment with the ongoing logistical arrangements progressing as planned.

In addition to these deliberations, an agreement was reached regarding the venue for the next meeting. The fifth session of the High-Level Core Group is set to take place in Male’, with the exact date to be determined through mutual consensus, anticipated to be in June or July.

The formation of the High-Level Core Group stemmed from a previous encounter between Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of COP28.
