The government has completed concrete works for 55 metres of the quay wall under the Malé North Side Boduthakurufaanu Road Development Project.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) reported that preparations are now underway for paving the harbour-side sidewalks and installing settlement tanks. Work on the second segment of the project is being carried out according to schedule.

The construction covers a 250-metre section from the Local Market area to the North Harbour, forming part of a wider 1,088-metre stretch that runs from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to the North Harbour.

The development is intended to improve pedestrian access, reduce traffic congestion, address persistent flooding caused by drainage issues, and enhance accessibility for residents, cargo vehicles and vessels. MTCC anticipates that the second phase of the project will be completed, and the road opened to the public, ahead of Ramadan.
