The government is in the process of establishing youth hubs in six regions across the country, according to the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts, Ibrahim Waheed.

The first Youth Hub has already been inaugurated in Malé City. The facility is intended to provide skills development programmes for young people, organise recreational activities, and offer a healthy and mentally supportive environment. It will also deliver counselling and youth wellbeing services under one roof.

At a press conference held at the President’s Office, the minister said that there had previously been no dedicated space specifically designed for youth, and that the government is now addressing this gap. He added that agreements have been signed to establish additional youth hubs in Addu City, Fuvahmulah City, Thinadhoo City and Kulhudhuffushi City.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised the importance of these hubs as platforms to empower young people and encourage creative thinking.
