Gov’t Announces Eid al-Adha Celebration Islands

Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage has unveiled the three islands where Eid al-Adha will be celebrated this year.

The chosen locations are Raa Ungoofaaru, Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo, and Gaafu Alifu Vilingili.

The Ministry highlighted that these islands were selected based on the merits of the proposals submitted. The selection criteria focused on the proposed events, financial contributions from the island councils, and the measures taken to ensure the celebrations are accessible to everyone at no cost.

Emphasising the importance of community involvement, the Ministry stated that this approach aims to foster a sense of unity and inclusivity during the festivities. 

The selected islands will host a variety of events designed to engage the local community and enhance the celebratory spirit of Eid al-Adha.
