Gov’t Announces Initiation of Guraidhoo Airport Development

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has unveiled plans to kickstart development efforts for an airport in Guraidhoo, Thaa Atoll, as part of his administration’s commitment to bolstering infrastructure in the region. 

Addressing the community during his visit to Guraidhoo, Muizzu expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reiterated his dedication to translating promises into tangible results. He outlined a special action plan aimed at meeting campaign targets, with notable progress achieved within the first nine weeks, with the aim to fulfil all objectives by the 14th week.

Despite facing budgetary constraints and the need for adjustments, the President reaffirmed the commencement of various projects, including the airport. 

Muizzu assured residents that practical work on the airport project would commence within the year, reaffirming his pledge to deliver on promises such as the establishment of a hospital and other vital projects.

Acknowledging the economic challenges inherited from the previous administration, Muizzu outlined efforts to tackle unpaid bills and boost the country’s revenue. He highlighted the significance of recent diplomatic visits to Türkiye and China, citing potential benefits for the Maldives, with plans for another overseas trip this month, followed by a comprehensive tour of all islands across the nation.

Concluding his address, Muizzu expressed optimism for the future, asserting that better days lie ahead for all Maldivians.
