Gov’t Confirms Disability Allowance Will Continue Alongside Employment

The Ministry of Social and Family Development has confirmed that the state allowance for persons with disabilities will not be reduced if they gain employment.
Employment opportunities within the civil service form part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s commitment to supporting persons with disabilities. Systems and procedures have been established to provide job opportunities through government agencies, councils, and institutions.

To date, over 350 persons with disabilities have secured employment through these initiatives, with further opportunities being developed to expand the programme.
The Ministry emphasised that the disability allowance is legally protected and will continue alongside any other income or benefits. Salaries for persons with disabilities are equal to those of other employees, enabling recipients to contribute fully to family expenses, with no variation in pay based on disability.
