The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development has announced an extension of the deadline for student loan applications, catering to individuals aspiring for higher education both domestically and internationally.
Originally opened on February, the opportunity for student loan applications was set to conclude today. However, the Ministry has prolonged the application window until May 2, with submissions accepted until 1:30 pm. This extension comes as a welcome relief for prospective students, ensuring they have ample time to pursue financial assistance.
Under the student loan scheme, 500 opportunities are available, covering a wide spectrum of educational pursuits from diplomas to PhDs. Minister of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development, Dr. Maryam Mariya, emphasised that the scheme encompasses diverse fields deemed crucial for the nation’s development, including construction, aviation, agriculture, and others outlined in the President’s manifesto.
The loan scheme also prioritises inclusivity by extending support to students with disabilities, ensuring they receive the necessary financial assistance to complete their courses. Moreover, existing students can avail themselves of additional expenses covered under the loan scheme, facilitating a smoother educational journey.
In light of these developments, students pursuing tuition-free degrees are also eligible to apply for supplementary expenses through the loan scheme. This comprehensive approach aims to empower students and alleviate the financial burdens associated with pursuing higher education.
