Gov’t Initiates Nominations for National Awards

The National Awards Committee has officially opened the nominations for this year’s prestigious National Awards. 

As of today, the application process for these esteemed accolades has commenced and will remain open until May 30. This year, the National Awards have expanded to include two additional categories, adding further depth to the recognition of outstanding contributions.

The newly introduced categories aim to honour individuals and organisations that have significantly contributed to fostering the elements and ideals of Maldivian nationhood. The Committee will closely assess endeavours that promote the essence, values, and principles of Maldivian nationhood within the context of the Islamic Maldivian identity. 

These efforts encompass a dedication to advancing core Maldivian principles, facilitating nation-building initiatives, enhancing civic engagement, fostering community development, promoting thought leadership, advancing science and technology, and nurturing the arts and creative industries within the Maldives.

Additionally, the awards will also acknowledge individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and proficiency in various fields over an extended period.

The National Awards consist of two distinguished categories: the National Award of Honour and the National Award of Recognition. Recipients of the National Award of Honour will be presented with commemorative shields, badges, and a certificate by the President, while recipients of the National Award of Recognition will receive commemorative plaques and certificates from the President.

To streamline the nomination process, applications, including the requisite forms, can be conveniently submitted online through the designated portal.
