Gov’t Publishes Ballot Info on Local Council and WDC Elections

The Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has released details of the ballot boxes to be used in the upcoming local council elections.
A total of 621 ballot boxes will be placed across polling stations in the Maldives and overseas, including locations in Malaysia.
Information on the ballot boxes, including their codes, locations, and assigned polling stations, has been published on the ECM’s website.
The distribution includes 321 ballot boxes in the atolls, 240 in Malé, Hulhumalé, and Villingili, 50 at resorts, three at industrial workplaces, five in prisons, and two overseas.
Approximately 295,000 people are eligible to vote in the election, which is scheduled for 4 April. The voters’ register has been published, with complaints being accepted until 18 January.
The nomination process for candidates will open on 17 January. The election will determine members of local councils and Women’s Development Committees across 225 constituencies.
