Gov’t Receives Drone Donation from UNODC
The Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology has announced the donation of two drones to the police force for use in sea operations.
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) provided these drones, which are capable of both aerial and maritime functions.
The agreement was formalised at a ceremony held yesterday at the Ministry of Home Affairs, with Minister Ali Ihsaan representing the ministry.
According to the Home Ministry, these drones will be utilised by the Marine Police Division for short-range operations, enhancing their operational capabilities in maritime environments.
In addition to these donated drones, the government recently acquired two drones from Turkey for the Maldivian National Defence Force (MNDF). Furthermore, the United States and China are set to donate two drones each to the Customs Service.
