Gov’t Signs a MoU to Develop Vilin’gili International Airport

The Government of the Maldives has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to contract for the project to develop Vilin’gili International Airport.

The MoU signing ceremony took place during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s meeting with the residential community of GA. Vilin’gili Island today.

The development of Vilin’gili International Airport was contracted to NV Besix SA from Belgium.

As part of the MoU, a tourism development project would be initiated alongside the development of the Vilin’gili International Airport project. 

It includes the development of an integrated tourism zone. Speaking with the residents of Vilin’gili Island, Muizzu stated that land reclamation would proceed during the project.

Dr Abdulla Muththalib, the Minister of Construction and Infrastructure, signed the MoU on behalf of the Government of Maldives, and Servè Dolmans, the Business Development Manager of NV Besix SA, signed on behalf of the contractor.
