Gov’t Unveils Events for World Oceans Day Celebration

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources has unveiled a lineup of events to mark World Oceans Day, an annual observance held worldwide on June 8.
Collaborating closely with island councils and pertinent administrative entities, the ministry is set to orchestrate a series of beach-centric activities spanning various locales across the Maldives, with the aim of infusing the World Oceans Day celebrations with vigour. A pivotal event, dubbed “Enmmen Moodhah,” will kick off proceedings on June 8.
In addition, the ministry has confirmed plans to host drawing and essay competitions open to all schools, underscoring the importance of World Oceans Day. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of these contests.
To enhance public awareness, the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources will disseminate informative content via social media channels from June 1 to 8. Quiz competitions will also be conducted through these platforms.
Moreover, a dedicated information session featuring industry experts is slated to take place, with participating students expected to pledge their commitment to beach litter reduction.
Notably, the ministry has outlined arrangements for diving activities tailored specifically for children in the Male’ area. Furthermore, a children’s evening event christened the “Kandu Roadhi Ufaa Festival” is on the agenda, designed to impart crucial insights about World Oceans Day to the younger generation.
