The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has allocated lagoons for the temporary mooring of vessels being relocated from the Hulhumalé Phase 3 land reclamation area.
HDC announced on 30 October that vessels in the Phase 3 reclamation zone must be removed by 00:00 hrs on 6 November 2025 to allow reclamation works to resume. To address the lack of relocation guidance, HDC has now designated specific lagoons for safaris, dhoani, and other vessels. Safaris can be moored in the lagoons of Kudagiri, Gulhifalhu, and Thilafushi in Kaafu Atoll, while dhoani and other vessels may use Gulhifalhu and Thilafushi inner lagoons.
The HDC provided maps outlining the clearance area and the newly allocated mooring sites, thanking the public and vessel owners for their cooperation during the relocation process. The temporary mooring arrangements will remain in place until the completion of reclamation works.
