During his address, Minister Khaleel highlighted how climate change is exacerbating environmental challenges such as coastal erosion and coral bleaching, which are crucial to the Maldives’ tourism and fishing industries. He underscored that these environmental changes translate into serious economic and health concerns for the population.
Minister Khaleel stressed the multitude of obstacles in mitigating the societal damage caused by these environmental shifts, noting that climate change poses not only economic challenges but also major health threats. He called for accessible financial assistance to help small island nations address these pressing issues effectively.
In addition to discussing climate change, Minister Khaleel urged the international community to end the persecution of Muslims in Gaza. He highlighted the importance of healthcare as a fundamental human right and called for global solidarity in ensuring this right is upheld for all.
