Heena Walid Appointed Chief Spokesperson at President’s Office

Former TVM presenter and prominent media personality Heena Walid has been appointed as the Chief Spokesperson of the President’s Office, marking the first time a woman has assumed this role.

As confirmed by the president’s office, Heena will continue to fulfil her duties as the Chief Spokesperson of the President’s Office without receiving compensation and will maintain her position as CEO of the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA).

Hailing from Hithadhoo Addu, Heena’s academic qualifications comprise higher studies in Mass Communication, Journalism and Advertising.

Prior to her appointment, Heena served as the Foreign Ministry’s Political Director and Head of News at PSM. Additionally, she is well acquainted with the media landscape as the ruling coalition PPM/PNC’s spokesperson.

Former journalist Mohammed Shaheeb was the previous Chief Spokesperson of the President’s Office, but he was dismissed in December last year following criticism of his interactions with journalists; Shaheeb now serves as the State Minister of Foreign Affairs.
