The government has announced the completion of land reclamation for Hulhumalé Phase III.
The third phase of the Hulhumalé development was launched in September 2023 under the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, during which 24 hectares of land were dredged.
Capital Marine and Civil Construction was contracted to reclaim a total of 63 hectares for the project. Following delays, dredging of the remaining 38 hectares resumed on 10 November last year.
The reclamation works were carried out using two trailing suction hopper dredgers, TSHD Prins der Nederlanden and TSHD Oranje, each with a capacity of 22,000 cubic metres.
According to the Ministry of Housing, a draw to allocate plots in the newly reclaimed area was held on 20 December. The lottery was conducted among recipients who had previously been allocated land in the area.
