Maldives Immigration, in collaboration with the Maldives Police Service, continues its crackdown on illegal migration, resulting in the detention of additional expatriates.
According to Immigration officials, raids were conducted last night at four food establishments in Male’ City, including cafés and takeaways. During these operations, six expatriates—comprising six men and a woman—were apprehended. Additionally, authorities closed down a café operated by some of those detained.

In a separate incident during the raids, an expatriate was arrested for damaging a vehicle belonging to the immigration authority.
Illegal migration remains a longstanding concern in the Maldives, prompting intensified efforts by Immigration to address the issue. Last week, the authority reported that over 1,800 expatriates detained in recent operations have been deported to their respective nations.
The crackdown underscores ongoing efforts by Maldives authorities to enforce immigration laws and maintain security amidst challenges posed by illegal migration.
