JSC Suspends Civil Court Judge Abdullah Ihsan Over Sexual Harassment Case
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has suspended Civil Court Judge Abdullah Ihsan in connection with a sexual harassment case filed against the judge.
In a statement issued on Wednesday evening, the JSC said Ihsan had been temporarily suspended based on the nature of the case under investigation and the information received so far. The suspension, which took effect on Wednesday, is for 60 days.
The JSC issued the clarification after reports emerged that Ihsan had been suspended in connection with a case being heard at the Civil Court. However, the commission denied this and said the suspension was related to a sexual harassment complaint filed against the judge.
The commission said it had taken a statement from Ihsan and obtained testimony from other individuals required as part of the investigation.
According to the JSC, the decision to suspend Ihsan was made based on the information gathered during the investigation and to maintain public confidence in the judiciary.
The JSC did not provide further details about the allegations or the person who filed the complaint.
