Kinbidhoo Land Reclamation Project Launched

Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr Abdullah Muththalib has launched the practical phase of the land reclamation project in Kinbidhoo Island, Thaa Atoll.

The project, entrusted to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on August 21, 2023, involves an investment of USD 9.6 million (MVR 148.20 million) and is slated for completion within eight months.

The scope of the project involves:

– reclaiming 25 hectares on the eastern side of the island.

– Excavating and removing a significant volume of material, amounting to 306,162 cubic meters, in dredging operations.

– Installing a drainage bioswale spanning 1,528 meters

Dignitaries at Thursday’s ceremony included Principal Secretary to the President Ahmed Ali Habeeb, MTCC’s Chief Project Management Officer Ahmed Latheef, Kinbidhoo Council President Ali Hussain, senior officials from government agencies, and residents of the island.
