Labour Relations Authority Reassigns Under Homeland Security Ministry

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reassigned the Labour Relations Authority (LRA) to the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology at his discretion, as accorded by Section 116 of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives. 

This decision went into effect on August 6, 2024.

The President’s decision comes following his Cabinet’s recommendation for the change, citing deliberations at the Cabinet on resolving issues regarding undocumented expatriate workers.

The LRA was previously under the purview of the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development.
