Lieutenant General Abdul Raheem Honored with Retirement from Military Service

Lieutenant General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef, the Chief of Defense Force, was gracefully discharged from his military duties upon reaching the age of 60. 

After a distinguished career spanning 39 years, Abdul Raheem bid farewell to his service in a solemn ceremony attended by esteemed dignitaries, including Defense Minister Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon.

During the ceremony, Defense Minister Ghassan presented Abdul Raheem with a letter from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, who serves as the Commander-in-Chief, acknowledging his dedicated service to the nation. Additionally, Abdul Raheem was honoured with a symbolic decoration board, symbolising his unwavering commitment to the military.

In recognition of his contributions, Vice Chief of Defense Force, Brigadier General Ibrahim Hilmy, presented Abdul Raheem with a letter from the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) and a symbolic retirement card.

Abdul Raheem’s illustrious career commenced on February 18, 1985. Throughout his service, he held various pivotal roles including Chief of Defense Force, Vice Chief of Defense Force, Commander of multiple units, Co-commander, Commander of area command, Spokesperson of MNDF, and Financial controller of MNDF.

Over the years, Abdul Raheem’s dedication has been duly recognised with numerous accolades. He was adorned with 12 medals and 11 service ribbons, showcasing his exceptional commitment and professionalism. Furthermore, in 2021, he was bestowed with a national award in acknowledgment of his 35 years of outstanding service to the nation.

As Lieutenant General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef embarks on the next chapter of his life, his legacy of service and dedication to the Maldives National Defense Force will be remembered with reverence and gratitude.
