Under the provisions of the exchanged letter, 72 islands are slated to receive vital laboratory equipment over the course of five years, courtesy of the generous support extended by the Chinese government.

This concerted effort is poised to address the persistent challenges stemming from the dearth of laboratory services in remote rural areas, a long-standing concern in the healthcare landscape of the Maldives.

Minister of Health Dr Abdulla Khaleel highlighted that the imminent influx of laboratory equipment is poised to fortify the healthcare provisions administered by these centres.

The seamless integration of these resources is expected to streamline diagnostic procedures, thereby expediting treatment processes and ultimately bolstering the overall quality of healthcare services nationwide.

This collaborative endeavour underscores the commitment of the government towards augmenting the standard of healthcare accessible to citizens, affirming a concerted resolve to address pressing healthcare needs and foster sustained improvements in public health infrastructure.
