Maldives and UK Hold Talks to Strengthen Trade and Investment Relations

The Maldives and the UK have held a meeting to discuss deepening trade and investment relations between the two countries.

Minister Saeed is currently on an official visit to the UK to attend the Commonwealth Trade and Investment Roundtable. His visit aims to seek assistance from UK financial sector participants to develop a vibrant financial market in the Maldives.

In a post on X Minister Saeed shared details of his meeting with Minister Hands, highlighting their discussions on enhancing trade and investment ties between the two nations. 

He emphasised that leveraging the UK’s experience in developing the Maldives’ financial industry and expanding the scope of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) remains a priority for President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

During his visit, Minister Saeed is scheduled to meet with UK government officials, members of the House of Lords, and representatives from the UK financial and professional services industry.
