Maldives Awards MVR 1.6 Billion Infrastructural Projects Across 14 Islands

The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has awarded 14 infrastructural development projects across 14 islands, with a combined value of MVR 1.6 billion.

The projects, awarded to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), cover land reclamation, beach protection, road construction, and harbour development.

Dredging and beach protection works have been allocated for islands in Haa Alifu, Noonu, Dhaalu, and Gaafu Alifu Atolls, including Vashafaru, Hen’badhoo, Holhudhoo, Maalhendhoo, Bandidhoo, Kanduhulhudhoo, and the Alifushi Industrial Zone in Raa Atoll. Additional beach protection projects will take place in Gaafaru, Maafaru, and Filladhoo.

Other contracts include the development of Ungoofaaru harbour in Raa Atoll, the creation of an artificial beach in Ihavandhoo, the second phase of road development in Fares Mathoda, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, and harbour-related works in Muraidhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll.

These projects are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen infrastructure, enhance coastal resilience, and improve connectivity across the islands.
