The ‘Maldives Culture and Food Festival’ will return to Hulhumalé this year as part of the country’s New Year celebrations, Visit Maldives Corporation has announced.

Visit Maldives Corporation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Environment and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), has begun planning the festivities, following strong public turnout and positive feedback from last year’s event.

According to Visit Maldives, the celebrations, scheduled to run from 30 December 2025 to 1 January 2026, are expected to feature several highlights that proved popular in 2024, including a drone show, fireworks display, food stalls, and a range of cultural experiences for both residents and visitors. Organisers said the event aims to create a vibrant, inclusive and family-friendly space to welcome 2026.

Planning remains underway, and organisers said further details on the programme, specific dates and activities will be announced at a later stage.

The New Year event is being developed as a joint initiative between Visit Maldives, the Ministry of Tourism and Environment and HDC. Discussions are also ongoing with potential partners and sponsors, with organisers inviting interested organisations to take part in the national celebration.
