The discussions took place during an official visit to Islamabad by a delegation from the Ministry of Health. As part of the visit, the delegation met with the Chief Executive Officer and other technical officials of NIH to examine opportunities for collaboration in key public health areas.
The talks focused on enhancing cooperation in several areas, including field epidemiology training, monitoring of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), infection prevention and control (IPC), and strengthening the national disease surveillance system. Both parties also considered broader technical cooperation, training opportunities, and the establishment of institutional partnerships.
In addition to meetings with NIH, the Maldivian delegation visited the Armed Forces Institute of Urology (AFIU) and the Armed Forces Bone Marrow Transplant Centre (AFBMTC). These visits were aimed at gaining insights into the clinical services provided by the institutions and exploring potential areas for institutional training and collaboration.
