Maldives Reaffirms Support for Yemen’s Sovereignty

The Maldives has reaffirmed its support for the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Yemen, as developments continue in the war-torn country.
In a statement issued yesterday, the government said it continues to recognise and support the internationally recognised legitimate government of Yemen. The Maldives said it is closely monitoring the situation and remains committed to principles that uphold Yemen’s stability and political unity.

The government also welcomed a call by Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council to hold comprehensive talks aimed at reaching a negotiated political settlement through dialogue.
In addition, the Maldives expressed support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s initiative to host a conference in Riyadh, describing it as a constructive step towards advancing peace and stability in Yemen. The statement said the initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to Yemen’s security and to pursuing a peaceful resolution through diplomacy.
The Maldives reiterated its support for efforts that promote dialogue and a political solution to the conflict, underscoring the importance of regional and international cooperation in achieving lasting peace in Yemen.
