China has clinched the top spot as the leading tourist market with 77,000 arrivals. The UK follows closely with a total of 72,600 tourists, and Russia comes next with 72,300 tourist arrivals.

In the previous year, India led in tourist arrivals to the Maldives. However, this year, India currently ranks sixth in the list of top tourist markets to the Maldives, with a total of 40,000 tourists arriving from India.

The highest number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives so far this year was recorded in February, with a total of 217,392 arrivals. In January, 192,000 tourists arrived, while March saw 194,000 tourist arrivals. As of now, 124,000 tourists have arrived this month.

While a total of 1.8 million tourists arrived in the Maldives in 2023, the government aims to attract two million tourists to the Maldives this year.

Despite the increase in tourist arrivals, there has been a decline in the average duration of tourists’ stay in the country over the past month. Presently, tourists spend an average of seven and a half days in the Maldives.
