Maldivian Delegation Heads to Dubai for 2026 World Governments Summit

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdulla Khaleel, has departed for Dubai to lead the Maldivian delegation to the 2026 World Governments Summit.
The delegation includes Maldivian Ambassador to the UAE Mohamed Husain Shareef, Deputy Ambassador Hassaan Waheed, and Assistant Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aishath Leen Fazeeh.
The summit, scheduled from 3 to 5 February in the United Arab Emirates, brings together global leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss future governance.
The presence of senior Maldivian officials underscores the country’s commitment to engaging in global dialogue on governance and public sector innovation.
Officials noted that the Maldives’ participation also reflects the strong diplomatic ties between Male’ and Abu Dhabi, built on shared values and long-standing cooperation. The government has expressed appreciation for the enduring partnership with the UAE and aims to further strengthen bilateral relations through discussions at the summit.
Held annually under the patronage of the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, this year’s summit carries the theme “Shaping Future Governments” and seeks to enhance international cooperation, promote innovation, and advance sustainable development.
