Man Arrested Following Violent Stabbing Incident in Guraidhoo

Police are investigating a violent assault involving a sharp weapon during an argument inside a residential home in K. Guraidhoo yesterday evening.

The incident was reported to the Maldives Police Service at approximately 20:36 on 14 October 2026.

According to police, a 37-year-old Maldivian man sustained stab wounds to his left upper arm and right hip area during the altercation. He was transferred to Malé for further medical treatment and is currently receiving care at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

A second victim, a 34-year-old Maldivian man who attempted to intervene and stop the assault, also sustained injuries during the violence.

Police have taken a 50-year-old Maldivian man into custody in connection with the attack.

An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
