Manipal Hospital in India, frequented by many Maldivians for medicine, has resumed offering treatment under the Aasandha health insurance scheme.
Local news outlet Mihaaru reported that Aasandha’s Managing Director Aminath Zeeniya said that a recent agreement with the hospital lowered service charges and restored the services promised under the scheme.
The hospital had suspended Aasandha coverage from 30 June 2025 due to high treatment costs. After several days of discussions, coverage was reinstated following adjustments to the service fees. The agreement reached at the time allowed existing Maldivian patients to continue their medical care, while new patients would not be accepted until a further decision was made in coordination with the hospital.
Aasandha has agreements with 60 foreign hospitals to provide treatment for Maldivians, including 49 hospitals in India.
