MDP to File Impeachment Motion Against President Muizzu
The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), holding a majority in Parliament, has mobilised support to initiate an impeachment motion against President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
MDP in collaboration with The Democrats, has amassed adequate signatures for the impeachment motion, this afternoon.
As of now, the motion has not been formally submitted.
Muizzu, who took office last November, finds himself facing impeachment proceedings following prolonged delays in the approval of his cabinet by the MDP.
The party’s refusal to endorse certain ministerial appointments has triggered discontent within Parliament, culminating in unrest during yesterday’s session.
The PPM and PNC have voiced objections, obstructing parliamentary proceedings on the grounds of impending government functioning.
