Maldives Weather Warning Extended Amid Ongoing Storms

The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a White Alert warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms, with wind gusts reaching up to 40 mph, across a wide stretch of the country.

The alert covers the area from Haa Alifu Atoll in the north to Laamu Atoll in the central Maldives, and is in effect from 17:00 to 23:00 hrs on 14 September 2026.

According to the Met Office, residents and mariners in the affected atolls should prepare for sudden downpours and gusty winds during the alert period. Authorities have not indicated any need for evacuation, but have urged caution, particularly for those engaged in sea travel or outdoor activities within the warned zone.

The Maldives Meteorological Service continues to monitor weather conditions and is expected to issue further updates as necessary.
