Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, has articulated a vision to streamline the fundamental training across all uniformed institutions under the Ministry.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the 28th batch of the Prison Officers Basic Training Programme, Minister Ihusaan emphasised the significance of well-trained officers as invaluable assets to their respective institutions.
He conveyed his commitment to delivering optimal training for officers, emphasising the importance of shaping them in a manner that fosters a distinct perspective on the country, profound respect for Islam, and ability to uphold the law.
Minister Ihusaan outlined that following the basic training phase, the objective is to tailor the specialized training for each institution’s unique requirements. Addressing the newly graduated prison officers who took the oath of duty, he underscored the solemnity of their commitment, characterising it as a pledge to hard work and national service.
He urged the officers to uphold the noble purpose behind their oath, emphasising the importance of maintaining the qualities expected of national service officers. Acknowledging the challenges that come with working in a resource-limited but responsible institution, Minister Ihusaan stressed the need for officers to remember their training and commitment when faced with difficulties.
Highlighting the unfortunate reality of rule violations within institutions despite efforts to ensure security and safety, Minister Ihusaan cautioned against engaging in activities that compromise the integrity of the profession. In his advice to prison officers, he urged them to refrain from participating in such activities, emphasising the importance of upholding the regulations set forth for the safety and security of the institution.
The proposed standardization of basic training across uniformed institutions aligns with Minister Ihusaan’s vision for creating a cohesive and well-prepared force capable of meeting the challenges of their roles within the framework of national service.
