Minister Shafeeu Attends 22nd Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers
Minister of Education, Dr. Ismail Shafeeu, attended the 22nd Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers, held from May 16 to 17 at London’s Marlborough House.
This triennial conference brings together educational experts from across the Commonwealth to collaboratively develop comprehensive educational policies.
The theme for this year’s conference, “Driving Resilience, Equity, and Skills for an Inclusive Future,” highlighted the critical role of education in empowering individuals with knowledge, resilience, fairness, and diverse skill sets to foster a thriving and inclusive future.

Dr. Shafeeu was accompanied by the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Ahmed Mohamed. Together, they engaged in discussions centred on formulating and strategising educational policies to ensure equal access to all levels and types of education. The conference also aimed at facilitating smooth transitions between educational levels to reduce learning disparities.
Discussions at the conference involved education ministers and senior government officials from various countries, offering a broad perspective on educational challenges and opportunities. Key topics included the resilience and sustainability of education systems and learners, the development of resilient societies and economies through innovative technologies, and the importance of seamless transitions within and outside the education system.
Participants actively exchanged views on promoting digital literacy through innovative tools to strengthen economies, ensuring equal access to education at all levels, and removing barriers to education, particularly for girls, women, and vulnerable groups. The conference’s emphasis on these themes reflects a shared commitment to advancing educational equity and preparing societies for future challenges.
The conference underscored the significance of international collaboration in addressing educational disparities and building resilient educational systems capable of adapting to changing global dynamics.
