The Ministry of Social and Family Development convened a validation workshop this week to finalise the national action plan to prevent child abuse.
As detailed in a press statement released by the Ministry yesterday, the workshop, held in Bandos, Maldives, attracted the participation of various government bodies, international organisations, and school students.
Discussions during the workshop focused on key issues, including legal complexities surrounding child abuse, institutional hurdles in fostering collaboration, resource allocation challenges, ensuring equitable rights and obligations concerning children’s welfare, and the imperative of enhancing preventive measures.
The ministry underscored the workshop’s outcome-oriented approach, with the forthcoming action plan prioritising a comprehensive strategy to combat child abuse.
