The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) officially inaugurated its Fire and Rescue service in Kaafu Atoll’s Maafushi yesterday.
According to MNDF reports, top organisation officials and the Minister of Defense, Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon, convened with the Maafushi council to deliberate on the initiation and expansion of fire and rescue services within the island.
The meeting saw the participation of notable figures including Chief of Defence Force, Major General Ibrahim Hilmy; Commander of MNDF Fire and Rescue Service, Brigadier General Abdulla Zuhury; alongside general and senior officers.
Maafushi marks the pioneering island beyond the Greater Male’ area to introduce MNDF’s Fire and Rescue services.
MNDF expressed intentions to extend the service to other islands in the atolls, particularly those with larger populations, following discussions during the meeting.
