MTDC’s website states that the building is a 10-storey office complex with a total floor area of 2,205 square metres. It features a full-height glass façade, a ground-floor café, basement parking and a convention hall on the first floor, with the remaining floors designated for office space.

The building also incorporates energy-efficient features, including energy-saving lighting, low-emissivity (Low-E) glass to reduce heat gain and thermal insulation, which MTDC says are intended to improve energy efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint.

The building stands on a 6,194-square-foot plot in Lot 11634, opposite Central Park in Hulhumalé Phase 1.

The project began with the signing of a land purchase agreement with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) on 30 May 2022. MTDC subsequently awarded the construction contract to Hunan Sixth Engineering Company on 25 September 2023, while the foundation stone was laid on 17 July 2024.

MTDC said the completion of the building forms part of its efforts to modernise its services, expand its investment portfolio and develop projects that generate sustainable income.

The corporation said the strategy aims to reduce its reliance solely on the tourism sector by diversifying its sources of revenue.

Commenting on the inauguration, Minister Ameen said the milestone reflected President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s commitment to strengthening tourism institutions.
