Muizzu Calls for Collaborative Partnerships to Address Climate Change

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has called on small island nations to forge collaborative partnerships with regional and international stakeholders to address climate change.

He made these remarks in a keynote address at the side event “From Ambitions to Practice: Advancing SIDS4 Goals through the Climate Smart Resilient Islands (CSRI) Initiative” at the Fourth Small Islands Developing States Conference yesterday.

In his address, Muizzu the importance of climate-smart resilient islands to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

The event, hosted by the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy, featured prominent speakers, including Special Envoy for Climate Change Ali Shareef, Director General of the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Program Sefanaia Nawadra, and Director of the Ministry of Climate Resilience, Environment, and Renewable Energy Grenada, Titus Antoine.

Minister Thoriq Ibrahim highlighted the significance of the CSRI Initiative in addressing the unique challenges faced by small island countries and promoting climate change awareness. He called for greater cooperation among environmentally sensitive small island nations to develop sustainable solutions.

The Fourth SIDS Conference, held every ten years, gathers leaders from SIDS countries and relevant stakeholders across various sectors. The aim is to work towards a sustainable, prosperous, and vibrant future for developing small island nations.
