Muizzu Holds Talks with Armed Forces on Defence Priorities

The President and Commander-in-Chief, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, convened with military personnel during a gathering yesterday, where he addressed various aspects concerning the nation’s defence.

At the ceremonial event, Muizzu underscored the pivotal role of the armed forces in safeguarding the sovereignty and independence of the Maldives. He outlined ongoing initiatives aimed at bolstering the army’s capabilities to fulfil its national service obligations effectively.

Emphasising the significance of upholding Islamic principles, Muizzu stressed the importance of preserving the nation’s faith and incorporating it into every aspect of national endeavour. He attributed the country’s resilience in the face of adversity to the steadfast commitment to Islamic values.

Furthermore, Muizzu articulated his commitment to resolving challenges encountered by the Maldivian Army, assuring that addressing their needs remains a top priority.

In a separate address, Muizzu reiterated efforts to provide essential support to the army, including improvements in infrastructure and welfare provisions. Housing was singled out as a fundamental requirement, with assurances that adequate accommodation would be made available within the next five years.

Minister of Defence, Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon, echoed these sentiments, affirming his dedication to enhancing the army’s operational capabilities and welfare. He commended the army for its contributions to national security and public safety, expressing gratitude for their ongoing service to the Maldivian people.

The gathering served as a platform to reaffirm the government’s commitment to fortifying the armed forces and ensuring their readiness to address emerging challenges in line with national interests.
